Challenging the cultural norm: treating eating disorders in the hispanic/latine/latinx population

Marisol Perez comes from a Cuban immigrant family. She was the first generation in her family to go to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from University of Miami in Florida in 1999. She obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Florida State University in Clinical Psychology graduating in 2004. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University. Her program of research encompasses both theoretical and applied studies in the area of body image and eating disorders, often using a focus on Hispanic/Latine populations. She has over 80 publications and active grants. She currently is President-elect for the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology, and Treasurer for the Academy of Eating Disorders.
